BUSTED: Tryan (Ty Ty) Smith, longtime friend of rapper Jay-Z, has been arrested in New York in connection with the Oct. 29 pepper-spray assault on R. Kelly and his security guards. The assault is an A-class misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail. The assault came after Kelly stopped his performance announcing he thought someone in the audience waved a gun at him.

The New York Daily News Reports that Lil' Kim and record producer Scott Storch are no longer a couple. Allegedly, Kim pulled the plug on their two-month relationship after Storch became too "controlling" and "possessive" of her. Storch presented Kim with an ultimatum of , “Move down to Miami, into my house, and marry me or it's over”. "Kim declined the proposal and ended the relationship." Scott Storch (for those of you not familiar with him) is the producer behind such hits as Terror Squad's "Lean Back," Beyoncé's "Naughty Girl".

A REALLY BAD RUMOR: A fake story allegedly written by the Associated Press about R. Kelly and the younger sister of Ashanti has been circulating on the Internet and was
mistakenly picked up and broadcast on at least two major radio stations. Supposedly written by AP music reporter Nekesa Mumbi Moody, the phony story makes false claims from unnamed sources that Kelly made sexual advances toward Ashanti's younger sister at a recent awards show. There is no truth to this story or any subsequent reports based on this false and misleading hoax. Ashanti personally telephoned New York radio station HOT 97 this morning to set the record straight. AP reporter Nekesa Mumbi Moody has also confirmed that the article was not written by her nor distributed by the Associated Press wire service.

SAY WHAT? Indiana Pacers forward Ron Artest has asked for time off to promote his rap album due out November 23. Pacers Coach Rick Carlisle benced him for two games despite believing Artest comprimised the intergtrity of the team.

KOCH Records has entered into a marketing and distribution deal with DEJA34 Records, a new label financed by Shaquille O'Neal and launched by Mark Stevens. Mark Stevens has been named label CEO of the label and DJ KaySlay has been named head of A&R. The first release is set for April 2005 from from DJ Kayslay.

GUESS WHO'S BACK: Reports say that former Hot 97 jocks Star and Bucwild are on their way back to New York radio. Since their exit from Hot 97 in May of 2003, rumors placed them in Connecticut and Philadelphia radio. The two are scheduled to begin at New York's Power 105.1 this January.

St. Louis-based Express Scripts Inc. is offering discounts on dozens of generic medicines to low-income Americans. The program includes prescription drugs for arthritis, asthma, cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and heartburn. It is open to people who earn no more than $23,000 a year, or $47,000 for a family of four, regardless of age or insurance coverage.
